About this directory
Boudoir Studios is an independent directory of boudoir photographers and boudoir photography studios in the United States — 5,205 of them across 2,492 cities in 51 states. Boudoir is a professional portrait genre: an intimate, empowering session that people book before a wedding, to mark a milestone like a birthday or a big change, during pregnancy, as a couple, or simply as a gift to themselves. Booking one is personal, and often a little nerve-wracking. This site exists to help you find the right photographer calmly — and to compare them on the things that actually matter.
What is in it
Every studio is recorded with a focus, because there is a real difference between a studio built around boudoir and a broader portrait studio that also offers it:

Studios are also tagged with the specialties they serve — bridal, couples, maternity, male (dudeoir), size-inclusive, glamour and pin-up, and mature (40+) — so you can start from the kind of session you are actually planning.
What is deliberately excluded
The hard part of a directory like this is not finding studios — it is keeping the wrong entries out. A naive search for the word turns up businesses that have nothing to do with a professional portrait session, and including them would make the directory useless. These are filtered out on purpose:
- Adult-entertainment venues. This is a directory of professional photographers, not nightlife. It is a different industry entirely.
- Lingerie and clothing retailers. Shops that sell garments are not photography studios.
- Med-spas and beauty counters. Hair, makeup and skincare businesses are not boudoir photographers, even when they share the vocabulary.
- General portrait studios with no boudoir offering. A studio that only shoots headshots, families or seniors is not listed as a boudoir studio.
- Online-only sellers with no photographer you can actually book a session with.
The point of the directory is that every entry is a real photographer you could actually book.
Where the data comes from
Listings are compiled from public business and map data — name, address, phone, hours, rating and review counts — then corroborated against the studio's own website where it has one. Screened client review excerpts come from those same public business profiles.
We show no photographs of any kind. This is a deliberate choice: it keeps the directory dignified and appropriate for the subject, and it means the page is about the studio and what it offers, not a gallery. The visual interest here is typography, colour and the map — never imagery of people.
The details clients actually decide on
Beyond the basics, studios are enriched with the attributes people tell us they choose on. Each is only recorded when there is evidence for it — the studio's own website says so, or its clients describe it in their reviews. Absence of a tag means unknown, never a “no”. Today that is 375 studios with an all-female team, 1,089 that include hair and makeup, 2,499 that publish their pricing, and 824 that make a point of guiding your posing so a first-timer never has to wonder what to do with their hands.
How studios are verified
- Category screening. Every candidate is checked against the business categories it publishes and the boudoir offering on its own site. Entries whose real business is something else are dropped, not hidden.
- Corroboration for attributes. An attribute — all-female team, hair and makeup, published pricing, posing guidance — needs support from the studio's own website or from client reviews before it becomes a tag. Absence of evidence is treated as unknown, never as a “no”.
- Review quotes are screened. Excerpts shown on listing pages are checked for relevance and appropriateness before they are published, and are attributed to their authors.
- Rolling refreshes. The dataset is re-checked periodically to catch closures, moves and new studios.
Editorial neutrality. Our guides teach you how to vet a studio — what to ask, what a good privacy policy looks like, how pricing is structured. But we never attach a safety or quality judgement to a named business. Listings stay factual; the vetting is yours to do, and we try to make it easy.
Independence and how the site is funded
This is an independent directory. We are not affiliated with, sponsored by, or paid by any of the studios listed, and being listed is not an endorsement. No studio can pay to be included, to rank higher, or to have a competitor removed — rankings come from client ratings and review volume.
The site is free to use and supported by advertising, which is disclosed in our privacy policy along with how advertising cookies work. There are no lead-capture forms and nothing to sign up for — contacting a studio happens directly, on the studio's own site or phone, and is private.
About the guides
Our guides quote typical US price ranges for a boudoir session, compiled from published studio pricing. Those are reference ranges to help you judge a quote — they are not prices offered by any specific studio in this directory. Always check a studio's own current pricing before you book.
Corrections
Every listing links to the studio's own website where one exists. If you own or work at a listed studio and something is wrong — hours, address, an attribute, a listing that should not be here at all, or a studio that has closed — email hello@boudoirstudios.net and we will correct it. The same goes if you are a client who spotted something out of date. The contact page lists what to include.
