The Boudoir Cost Index (2026)
"How much does boudoir cost?" is the question the whole industry is strangely quiet about — most studios ask you to enquire before they will say (we measured exactly how many on the Pricing Transparency Index). So we read the prices that studios do publish and rolled them into one honest index. One thing up front: these are starting prices, not what you will finally spend. Updated 2026-07-24.
A starting price is not the final bill.
Most boudoir studios use an in-person sales model: you pay a session fee to book and shoot, then choose images and products at a viewing afterwards — which is where the real total is decided. Of the studios that publish a price, most post a session fee like this. So read the median below as the cost of getting in the door, and always ask a studio what images and albums cost before you book, not after.
The headline number, honestly
Of the US studios that publish a price, a boudoir session starts at a median of $350.
Most land between $175 and $500 to start, across a full range of $99 to $5,400. That spread is really two things blended: a session / booking fee at the low end, and an all-inclusive package (session plus a set of images and sometimes an album) at the high end. It is based on the 520 studios that post a figure publicly — a self-selected slice, so treat it as a ballpark, not a quote.
What studios actually post: the starting-price bands
Among the 520 priced studios, here is how the published starting figures fall out. The lower bands are session / booking fees; the upper bands are all-inclusive packages. The takeaway is the shape, not any single number.

Starting prices by state
An honest note on coverage first: price is the hardest field to gather in boudoir, because most studios simply do not post one. So far 520 studios across 49 states publish a starting figure — 10% of the directory. That is a usable national ballpark but thin for ranking states, so we show every state with at least 3 priced studios and flag the smallest samples plainly. These rows firm up as our crawl grows.

Why boudoir prices spread so far
Two studios in the same city can post very different numbers, and the gap is usually about what is included, not who is better:
- Session fee vs all-inclusive. A low booking fee often means images and albums are bought separately at a viewing; a higher all-inclusive price usually bundles a set number of images in. The cheap-looking option can end up costing more.
- Hair & makeup. Professional hair and makeup is included in some packages and an add-on in others — worth $150–$300 in itself.
- Images & albums. This is where boudoir budgets are really set. Digital collections and albums can run from a few hundred dollars to several thousand, which is why the top of our range sits so far above the median.
- Experience & studio. A private studio, a client wardrobe, and a photographer who guides every pose cost more to run — and are exactly what makes a nervous first-timer comfortable.
Cite this data
Method. Prices are the studios' own publicly posted figures, read from their websites and listings across our national directory of 5,199 US boudoir studios. Where a studio posts a session fee we use that; where it posts an all-inclusive package we use that — so the national figure blends both, which widens the spread and is why these are labeled starting prices, not total spend. Coverage is a hard floor: a studio enters the index only once it lists a price, so the sample (520 studios, 10% of the directory) is small and grows with each re-crawl. A state appears once it has 3+ priced studios, and samples under 5 are flagged. Prices change often — always confirm on the studio's own page.
